A mind-bending legal thriller

Damages is an American legal thriller television series created by the writing and production trio Daniel Zelman and brothers Glenn and Todd A. Kessler. It premiered on July 24, 2007, on FX and aired for three seasons before moving to the DirecTV channel Audience Network in 2010, airing for two additional seasons and concluding in 2012.

The series stars Glenn Close as the lead litigation attorney, Patty Hewes, and Rose Byrne as her protégée, Ellen Parsons. It also features Tate Donovan, Ted Danson, Anastasia Griffith, Noah Bean, Zachary Booth, and Martin Short in supporting roles. The plot revolves around the intense and dynamic relationship between Patty and Ellen, as Ellen finds herself enmeshed in a conspiracy that involves a corporate client of Patty's.

The series has been met with critical acclaim and was nominated for four Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Drama Series, winning the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Glenn Close in 2008. It has also been nominated for four Golden Globe Awards for Best Television Series – Drama and won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Television Series Drama in 2008.
